Alliance Theological Seminary is proud to welcome
Dr. Elias Dantas as the Director of the new
Doctorate of Ministry program.

Dr. Elias Dantas, a native of Brazil, grew up as one of 22 children in a nominally Catholic family gave his life to Jesus Christ as a teenager at an evangelistic meeting, which featured a Presbyterian youth choir. As he grew in his faith, he also struck up a romance with his wife, Amelia, who just happened to be from a strong Christian family. Dr. Dantas and Amelia have three adult sons, Eli, Tim and Andre.

Dr. Dantas' formal theological instruction includes a Bachelor of Theology; Master of Theology; Doctor of Missiology and Doctor of Philosophy in Intercultural Studies, completed in 2006 at Fuller Theological Seminary. His ministry experience includes teaching and administrative work at the university and seminary level in Brazil, USA, and other countries for the last 23 years, church planting, missionary work and pastoral ministry in Brazil, Canada and the United States. Before coming to Nyack, Dr. Dantas was the Pastor of Outreach at Bel Air Presbyterian Church (Los Angeles, CA).

Dr. Dantas also serves as a member of the National Board of the Ethnic America Network operating out of the Billy Graham Center. The Network is a coalition of ministries encouraging and equipping local church bodies to share Christ's love with the growing ethnic communities in their area.

With a heart for global ministry, Dr. Dantas also travels extensively speaking for leaders of many denominations in countries such as Egypt, India, Ethiopia, Kenya, Venezuela, Thailand, Belarus, and Moldova. Lastly, Dr. Dantas has written four theological books, translated 14 others into Portuguese, and is in the process of finishing two more books, one on leadership development, that is to be published in Brazil and other on the planting of multicultural churches in North America, in partnership with Dr. Charles Van Engen, to be published by Baker Books.

Please take some time to welcome Dr. Elias and Amelia Dantas to the Nyack family. His office is located in room 206 of the ATS building.
