GLEASON NAMED TO ALL-STAR TEAM IN 1ST PRO SEASON

7/13/08- Former Warrior Baseball alum, Billy Gleason, was recently named to the East All-Star Team in the Continental Baseball League. In his first season in professional baseball, Gleason, as a member of the Texarkana Gunslingers, has established himself as one of the top pitchers in the league. He is leading the league with a 1.19 ERA, allowing only 4 earned runs in 30+ innings, while fanning 27 batters.
Gleason spent the majority of the season's first half working out of the bullpen, accumulating a league 2nd best 17 appearances. However, the Gunslingers, prior to the All-Star game, moved Gleason into the starting rotation and the 6'3" righthander from Hollywood, FL., did not dissappoint. In his first pro start Gleason pitched 6 scoreless innings with 9 K's to pick up the victory. Gleason established himself as a pro porspect during a steller senior season for the Warriors, he was the program's MVP and the CACC Pitcher of the Year in 2007.

Nyack Baseball Signs Kevin Earlie

Nyack, NY (6/5/08) - Nyack College Head baseball coach, Jon Copeland is excited to announce the signing of Kevin Earlie (Long Island, NY) to a national letter of intent. Earlie was elected to the 2008 All League for Division I, Suffolk County. He had a 5-1 Record with a 3.40 ERA as a starting pitcher for William Floyd High School. He pitched and started in 7 of thier 12 total wins on the year. He pitched a one hit complete game with no walks against Division I Sachem on April 22, 2008. At the plate he batted .420, had an on-base percentage of .530 with only 4 strikeouts in 87 at bats. His primary position is infield but can play all 9, including emergency catcher. He is a certified ECUA Umpire and an Eastport Bible Church youth leader. He will be pursuing a career as a high school teacher and baseball coach.
NYACK MEN AND WOMEN REPEAT AS CACC SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD RECIPIENTS

NEW HAVEN, CT (June 2, 2008) – Nyack College has won the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's and women's annual Team Sportsmanship Awards for the second consecutive year, according to an announcement by Commissioner Dan Mara. The Warriors won the men's award with 72 total points, while the women won a close race with 74 points.
Each CACC-sponsored sport hands out a team sportsmanship award at the conclusion of its respective season. The annual awards go to the schools that receive the most combined votes from each sport. One men's program and one women's program receives a plaque each year. The award was first handed out after the 2006-07 athletic season.
The Nyack men received team sportsmanship awards in soccer and golf this year. Felician finished second with 44 total votes, while Chestnut Hill was third with 42 after picking up the award in men's basketball. Philadelphia won the baseball sportsmanship award and was fourth with 36 points, while Dominican was fifth with 33 points. USP won the award for cross country for the second consecutive season.
The Nyack women earned team sportsmanship awards in volleyball and softball this year. The Warriors narrowly beat out Chestnut Hill for the annual award, as the Griffins captured the honor for soccer and basketball (in a tie with Felician). The Griffins garnered 70 votes, just four behind Nyack. Georgian Court was third with 55 points after winning the cross country sportsmanship award, while Caldwell was fourth with 48 points. Felician was fifth with 46 points. USP earned the tennis sportsmanship award this year.
