Women Finish 4th at Vassar Invitational

Poughkeepsie, NY – The women’s cross country team opened their 2010 season on a beautiful sunny day upstate NY, returning for the second time in 3 years to Vassar College for the school’s annual 5k Invitational Race. Senior, Allie Roma, was unable to compete this day due to an injury; however unfortunate news did not keep down their warrior pride. The Nyack Ladies fought hard and out of 12 schools, still managed to place in the top five, pulling off an overall spot in 4th place.
Captain Sharon Fetters, finished 14th out of 99 runners at a time of 20:57, Deborah McCarthy arrived 38th at 22:42, Lizzie Rigotti not too far behind takes the 43rd spot at a time of 22:52 , Sarah Beach arrives 49th at 23:29, and Bethany Allison, the fifth runner in for the Lady warriors, concludes 63rd at 25:07.
Although she may not be performing at 100 percent, Nyack hopes to have Roma back by this weekend, Saturday September 11, 2010, as they head to Annville, PA for the Lebanon Valley Invite.
Men and Women Compete at CACC Cross Country Championships

Philadelphia, PA- The Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams competed in the CAC CrossCountry Championships this past weekend. The rain-soaked Belmont Plateau slowed the field, as the competitors fought just to stay on their feet. The men finished 8th out of 10 teams and the women placed 7th out of 14 teams.

Belmont Plateau, Philadelphia, PA- This past weekend the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams competed in the annual Philadelphia Metro XC Invitational. Sharon Fetters (Junior/ Levittown, PA) placed 5th out of 177 runners completing the 5k course in a time of 20:22. Allie Roma (Junior/ Orlando, FL) placed 36th (22:03) and Lizzie Riggoti (Junior/ Bushkill, NY) placed 41st (22:12). Rounding out the Nyack effort was LeeAnn Mailly (Sophomore/ Westbrook, ME) in 53rd (22:35), Latia Deylii (Senior/Yonkers, NY) in 61st (23:02), Alisha Austin (Senior/Queens Village, NY) in 119th (25:28), Anna Crouch (Sophomore/Moscow, Russia) in 123rd (25:53), and Denissa Suriel (Senior/ Union City, NJ) in 143rd (26:56). The Nyack Women placed 5th overall out of 20 teams.
The men were lead by Aaron Baldwin (Junior/Port Byron, NY) who finished the 8k course in 27th place (29:12) out of 124 runners respectively. Close behind was Stuart Guild (Hicksville, NY) who finished the race in 37th (29:47), Ben Wallin (Sophomore/Rensselaerville, New York) who finished in 57th (30:44), Marc Martineau (Senior/ Lansing Michigan) who finished in 71st (32:46), Sherwin Richards(Queens, NY) who finished in 85th (33:31), and Emmanuel Buapim (Senior/Bronx, NY) who finished in 99th (35:41). The Nyack Men finished 8th overall out of 15 teams.
Women Finish 4th; Men 6th at Golden Knights Joust

Albany, NY- The Men's and Women's Cross-Country teams earned 4th and 6th place finishes this past Saturday at the Golden Knights Joust, hosted by St. Rose College. The women finished with a total of 93 points, just 8 shy of fifth place Merrimack. The men took sixth with a total of 173 points.
Sharon Fetters Named NCCAA National Runner of the Week

Sharon Fetters has been named the NCCAA's National Runner of the Week for her performance at last Saturday's season opening meet. Fetters finished 2nd overall in the 5k with a time of 20:32.
