AGSC Financial Aid

1. Before initiating a formal application, applicants should make a realistic assessment of their resources for financing graduate study in view of the graduate tuition and fee schedule and the cost of living in the metropolitan New York area.


2. Alliance Graduate School of Counseling offers a variety of financial aid, grants and scholarships. Awards are not given on the basis of handicap, sex, race, color, national or ethnic origin. To be considered for financial aid you must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and The Alliance Graduate School of Counseling institutional form. You can file your FAFSA form online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Please check the due dates for applying for financial aid in your state. The dates vary from state to state. The results from the FAFSA will be sent to the Graduate School. The FAFSA must be thoroughly completed and each applicant must remember to indicate the school code which is 002790 and Nyack College on the FAFSA for the school to receive the analysis. If you have any questions about filling it out, contact the Financial Services office at Alliance Theological Seminary (845)-353-2020 ext. 6925 (In NYC 212-625-0500 ext. 267). Financial aid will not be awarded until this information is available. You must submit the FAFSA by June 1. Students must reapply for financial aid each year by following the above procedure. To qualify for Institutional Scholarships and Grants, a student must be enrolled for at least 12 credit hours per semester and working toward the M.A. degree. A part-time student enrolled in at least 6 credits per semester may apply for student loans.


3. Please consult Alliance Graduate School of Counseling financial aid information for details concerning other funding sources.


4. The following financial aid programs are generally available to graduate students through the Financial Services Office at the Alliance Theological Seminary (845) 353-2020 ext. 6925 or (212) 625-0500 ext. 267 in NYC.

· Federal Stafford Loans

· Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) for New York State residents. You must be a resident of the State of New York for a minimum of 12 months to qualify for this aid.

· Other state aid. Consult the guidelines/regulations for that state.

· Alternative loans


5. Institutional scholarships and grants may also be awarded to eligible students by the Alliance Graduate School of Counseling. Eligibility is awarded for four semesters, pending achievement of a minimum 3.0 grade point average for each semester. Recipients must first apply for and use all available federal, state and local government grants. Full-time students may be eligible for $1,000-3,000 of institutional grants per year for two years. Please refer to Institutional Scholarships and Grants for a description of institutional grants and scholarships for which you may qualify. For additional information on these aid programs, contact the Alliance Graduate School of Counseling in Nyack or NYC.


6. Tuition and fees must be paid in full upon registration for classes. Students seeking a payment plan may pay one-third (1/3) of the bill at registration and one-third (1/3) each month during the semester. All monthly balances will receive a finance charge of 1.5%. Late payments will be charged $15.00. Before a student can register for the following semester, the previous semester must be completely paid.
