ATS Grants and Scholarships
ATS Grants & Scholarships

Students accepted to ATS who take at least 12 credit hours in a semester may apply for institutional aid.  To be eligible for scholarships, grants, and graduate assistantships, a student must have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher.

 Students wishing to receive financial aid must complete the aid application process in order to be considered.  Financial Aid packets are available in February each year for the subsequent academic year.

ATS uses the Free Application for Fedreal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Seminary?s own application form to determine eligibility.    Institutional grants and scholarships may not exceed $3,000 per student per academic year.

Grants (Rockland Campus)

The following grants are funded by Alliance Theological Seminary and are available to qualifying students:

  • Alliance Education Leadership Grant-  $2,000 per year awarded to new students receiving their bachelor's degree after December 1, 2000 from colleges affiliated with The Christian and Missionary Alliance.  Students must enroll at ATS within 9 months of their graduation. (This grant can not be used in conjuntion with the Accredited Christian College or University Grant)
  • Accredited Christian College or University Grant- $1,000 per year awarded to new students recieving their bachelor's from an accredited Christian College or University.  Students must enroll at ATS within 9 months of their graduation. (This grant can not be used in conjuntion with the Alliance Education Leadership Grant)
  • C&MA Ministries Grant- $2,000 per year is awarded to students who at their initial enrollment are licensed for ministry in the Christian and Missionary Alliance. (This grant can not be used in conjuntion with the Ordained Ministries Grant)
  • Ordained Ministries Grant- $1,000 per year is awarded to students who at their initial enrollment are ordained with a denomination.  Student must provide proof. (This grant can not be used in conjuntion with the C&MA Ministries Grant)
  • Academic Honor Scholarship- $2,000 per year is awarded to students who graduate from a fully accredited undergraduate institution with a Grade Point Average of 3.5 or higher.  This scholarship is renewable annually for those students who maintain a minimum Grade Point Average of 3.5 at ATS.
  • The Executive Grant- This Grant is awarded to students who submit a written request for special consideration for financial assistance due to extreme financial hardship.  Students must have a minimum Grade Point Average of 2.5 from a fully accredited institution.
  • The Bridge Grant- The Office of Admissions will award a grant of $1,000 a year to students who participated in The Bridge Program during their undergraduate Junior and Senior years.  A $500 grant can be awarded to students who were involved their Senior year alone (for more information about The Bridge Program, contact the Office of Admissions).

All institutional grants are available to students enrolling for the first time after July 1, 2001, for full-time study at the ATS main campus in Nyack, New York.  A grant is renewable by maintaining a minimum of 2.5 cumulative grade point average.  Grants lost due to low grades may be reinstated by appealing to the Office of Student Services if at any point a student regains the minimum necessary cumulative grade point average.

Grants (New York City Campus)

Financial aid is determined on a semester basis and based on the number of credits taken. The awards for part-time students are:

3-5 credits - $140.00

6-8 credits - $300.00

9-11 credits -$440.00

Full-time students (12-15 credits) receive an award of at least $1000 per semester.

Alliance Education Leadership Grant-  $2,000 per year awarded to new full-time students receiving their bachelor's degree after December 1, 2000 from colleges affiliated with The Christian and Missionary Alliance.  Students must enroll at ATS within 9 months of their graduation.

C&MA Ministries Grant- $2,000 per year is awarded to new full-time students who at their initial enrollment are licensed for ministry in the Christian and Missionary Alliance.

**Note: There is a cap of $3,000 per year in grants

Endowed Scholarships

For specific information about the many endowed scholarships offered by ATS, please refer to pages 70-73 of the ATS catalog.  Please remember that it takes 4-6 weeks for this processing to be complete.  You must allow time when returning your financial aid application to meet the deadline for scholarships.  Endowed scholarships are awarded in April for the following academic year.  Limited aid may be available after this point.
