Our department is committed to provide students with a strong foundation in Biology and Chemistry.  Students are challenged to develop critical thinking, reasoning and technical skills as they study the natural world. 

We have grown significantly with the hiring of 3 new faculty in the past year and the development of a second laboratory on the Rockland Campus.  Due to the growth of Nyack’s Nursing program, the continued support of the Education programs and with plans underway of offering a Biology major in the near future, expansion of the Department of Biology and Chemistry is envisioned. Together with the Department of Physical Sciences, these are a collegial and exciting community of scientists committed to excellence in teaching and research.Students enjoy the atmosphere in the laboratory that is defined by a mixture of academic rigor and personal relationships.
