Welcome to the Department of Intercultural Studies.  As a native son of Brooklyn, I have grown up in a cross-cultural environment, far more diverse than most cities worldwide. Having worked in relief and development programs around the world, I am convinced that Nyack College in New York is the premier location for students to prepare for cross-cultural service. Metro New York is our classroom, offering interaction with over two hundred people groups of the world, with access to the consulates of every nation and opportunities to connect with ministries and humanitarian organizations addressing profound global needs.

 

We offer interdisciplinary courses on significant themes like Intercultural adjustment, International Relief and Development, Personal Spiritual Formation, Cultural Anthropology and Project Funding, with concentrations in Community Development, Global Entrepreneurship, Global Outreach, TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), Leadership and Administration, and Urban Ministry.

 

Our excellent faculty is committed to equipping this generation for cross-cultural service through excellence in the classroom, dynamic co-curricular content, engaging internship opportunities, and personalized mentorship and spiritual formation.
