Department of Social Work
Do you enjoy helping people in need? Are you interested in understanding people, their environment, and the dynamic relationships between them? Do you like to work with individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities? If so, then social work may be the career that you are looking for, and we are here to help you become a professional social worker. Social workers serve diverse people who are vulnerable, disadvantaged, and/or oppressed. Being a competent social worker is also a challenging task that demands us to be equipped with knowledge, values, and skills, requiring us to examine and accept ourselves in order to become effective and ethical social workers. We are committed to helping you broaden your knowledge base, sharpening your social work skills, and advising your professional development. At the same time, the social work program at Nyack will provide you with opportunities for personal transformation. The Bachelors of Science in Social Work degree program at Nyack College is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). This major is offered at the Rockland Campus and the Manhattan campus.
